Slack’s apps are a huge part of what makes it such a great solution for companies: 95% of Slack users said that using apps in Slack make those tools more valuable. At Clerk, we love being part of that community. And now Slack showed us the love back by naming us a ‘Brilliant Bot’!
The Brilliant Bot list is in the Slack app directory – it’s a curated list by the Slack staff itself that they think are the top apps out there. It’s incredible to be featured in the list, especially when you see what big names we are next to (think established apps, like Trello and SurveyMonkey).
The Clerk Journey
Over the past 6 months, we’ve been working nonstop on Clerk, a native SMS app built on top of Slack, offering the conveniences of SMS texting for businesses using Slack, without adding another program. We’ve been constantly pushing to improve and add features so we can deliver what our customers want and need. It paid off big time when we won Best Modernized Custom App in the Slack Virtual Hackathon.
Winning Slack’s Virtual Hackathon
Back in March, Slack held a virtual hackathon to promote their newest developer tools, including granular permissions, app home, and modals. We set out to develop a series of new features for our users, including accessing our app on mobile, sending group text messages, and importing contacts.
Over the 7-day event, we successfully developed and launched several new capabilities:
- Centralized Clerk home tab on the Slack sidebar
- New, simplified onboarding experience
- Added modals – pop-up windows in Slack – with a friendly interface and clear prompts for users to type their text message
- Built a contact importing feature in the Clerk home tab
We got great feedback from Slack and our users on these new and updated features- but the proof is in the numbers: we improved our conversion by 30% and decreased average conversion time significantly after these updates.
Our Customer Stories
We now have dozens of clients that are sending thousands of messages monthly. And they’re telling us that we have become an integral part of their day-to-day operations and communication, especially with the new challenges we all face due to COVID-19.
We’ve seen a COVID-19 PPE manufacturer adopt our product to help communicate with patients. We have brick and mortar companies that have quickly built e-commerce platforms and customer communication channels. We have insurance agents, accountants, and real estate agents communicating with individual clients. We have a medical clinic keeping vulnerable patients safe. All leveraging SMS + Slack through Clerk. These stories are what inspire our work!
Clerk for Slack
The response from our community and Slack itself has been overwhelming. People love being able to send and receive texts inside Slack with their team and with customers, clients, and patients. So much passion and sweat have gone into this app, and we’re thrilled to be recognized by Slack for our work!
